If you are contemplating marriage, congratulations!! Here are a few first steps to begin the process.
To schedule a wedding this must be done at least nine months before the date of marriage, and preferably ONE YEAR prior to the date.
If either of the engaged persons have been married previously, the prior union(s) needs to have been declared null before one is able to reserve St. Joseph’s Parish. If either of you are in that situation, please speak to your priest immediately about this.
Schedule a meeting with the priest who will be preparing you for marriage. At this first meeting, the priest will inform you of the requirements for marriage preparation. Along with meetings with the priest, you will be required to take a full course of Natural Family Planning, and attend a pre-marriage weekend. We are confident that you will find each of these rewarding for your relationship as many couples tell us over and again.
What is Matrimony?
"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601)
